“Whenever and however you give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body, and your spirit for the rest of your life.”

— Ina Mae Gaskin

Hi Mommas,,Parents, Grandparents, Family, and Friends. I’m Jane.

I am a dedicated Postpartum Doula and infant specialist. Thirty six years ago, after the birth of my daughter Nicole, I had difficulty processing the birth and difficulty recovering during postpartum. Both loving Grandmoms were there to support me, as well as my incredible sister, however, I needed to understand more about the process of birth and recovery.

I discovered Mothering Magazine and La Leche. La Leche consultants were able to answer many of my questions and provide crucial guidance and support.

I live in Santa Fe, NM, but I am also available to travel to you for postpartum care.

Education

Although my college education and background originally were in Art History, my experiences with my daughter’s birth led me on a passionate exploration and self-education in birth and postpartum care. My essential—and continuing—education and training have been through Doulas of North America and  The Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health.  At the Birthkeeper Summit conference in 2015, in order to deepen my work with new Moms and babies, I decided to further my education and study to become a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist.

Love is the Nutrient

I love nurturing.  At this stage in my life, I have entered the years of Elderwise Women.  I feel my experience and knowledge steeped in tradition and natures way of healing help provide a foundation for future Mommas and their Families.

Cooking and baking are also my creative expressions of that love. Just as my mother did with me; sharing my knowledge of the kitchen and mentoring new families are my ways of passing along a deeply satisfying generational gift.

I continue to combine my knowledge and skills to promote a greater sense of peace and wellbeing to the families I care for, knowing that a healthy, loving, caring environment will strengthen the bonds of family and community. As Robin Lim, internationally recognized midwife, founder of Bumi Sehat Foundation International, CNN Heroes recipient, and my inspiration states, “Love is the Nutrient.”

“When Jane started working with our family, I honestly felt she was heaven sent. Asking for help didn't get any easier for me after my daughter was born, but it was absolutely essential. Our closest relatives were about a thousand miles away; my partner was immediately back at work full time; I was too sore and too depleted to do much more than nurse the first weeks after my daughter's birth.

Jane stepped in as if she had always been a part of our family: supporting our first attempts at parenting, preparing food, and holding and loving our baby so I could catch my breath, take a shower, or a precious nap, and basically just feel human again. The knowledge and care that Jane gives to new moms and their families are essential ingredients for a healthy transition from birth to life with a new baby.”
